Safe driving depends on good vision. Make sure your eyes are up to the job, by day and by night.
To drive legally you must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres and meet the required standard of visual acuity and field of vision. Because eyesight usually changes gradually, many drivers do not notice their vision slipping below the standard – regular eye examinations are the only reliable way to be sure.
Night driving places extra demands on your eyes. Glare from headlights, reduced contrast and tiredness all make clear, comfortable vision more important than ever. The right lenses can make a big difference.
We carry out driving-related examinations, including DVLA tests for professional and occupational drivers, and can advise whether an eye condition needs to be reported to the DVLA.
